What people say about this course?

Donna Edmunds

"I cannot recommend the beginner course highly enough! The course made it so easy to learn and gain confidence. The lessons are a good mix of grammar, vocabulary and speaking, the topics are relevant and engaging- which means that I already began to put what we're learning to use in the real world. I've now started speaking Hebrew in shops, and can actually understand what people say to me!"

Matias Kopinsky

"I would highly recommend this course to anyone who wants to learn Hebrew. A few months before making Aliyah I could barely muster together a few sentences in Hebrew. After my third level, I am now able to have complex conversations in Hebrew, even had a date with a girl speaking 99% Hebrew. The course also helped me better understand the culture and the people of Israel."

Miranda Bass

"My experience with Fluent was excellent. I came into the course having spent two semesters in Ulpan and could read and understand decently, but I really struggled with my speaking. The course was perfect for improving in this area, and gave me the ability and the confidence to express myself comfortably in Hebrew. Most importantly, the teachers were awesome, and pushed me to talk more!"

Yonit Tanenbaum

“This course changed my entire approach to learning Hebrew. Every class is engaging and fun. I highly recommend this for anyone who already has a generally good command of the language and wants to improve their speaking and vocabulary while being immersed in Israeli culture.”

Efrat Levi

“An amazing experience! It’s a very different and special way to learn a language... We don’t waste time with long hours of grammar and tons of homework, the emphasis is on practicing and understanding. I recommend this course to those who are tired of learning in traditional and boring ways and are looking for something special and different.”

FAQ's

What is the goal of this course?

The goal is to enable you to achieve a conversational level and then join the "Language Immersion Course" with Israeli partners (a group where half are English native speakers and the other half are Israelis).

In this course we will focus on everyday vocabulary and practical conversations, useful slang and expressions to get around, and we will learn about Israeli culture along the way!

We will also learn the basics of Hebrew grammar (present/past tenses, nouns and adjectives, etc.) that will enable you to start holding conversations in the language.

What are the topics of the lessons?

Every week, we'll speak about a different aspect of the culture. Music, stereotypes, food, social norms, history, religion, are some of the many topics that will be covered. We learn grammar and vocabulary through these practical topics, connected to practical context. For example, we'll learn how to conjugate the verb "to cook" and the words "tomato" and "cucumber" while making an Israeli salad.

At Fluent, we learn languages through the culture!

What is our methodology?

The general methodology is based on three simple steps: Why, What and How

"Why" - First, understand the need for the knowledge (grammar, vocabulary, expressions). Why do we need it? In which context will we use it? Let's give it life!

"What" - Second, get familiar with the material. Learn the rule or the vocabulary, understand how it works. Master the information.

"How" - Third, use it. Practice the newly learned knowledge through a game, an exercise, a conversation- something fun that will allow you to put what you learned into practice, and connect the dots for real-life use!

What is included in the course?

- 2 weekly lessons (4h per week) led by a teacher (small groups up to 6)

- Fun and interesting homework & tasks to get ready for the next lesson and topic, and review the material learned
